Overview

Bay Fall is still in the early stages of development. Planning and preparation for the game is subject to change, but is complete overall.

The game will be a VR game inspired by my experiences in New Zealand.

It will contain both a Skydiving and Whale watching game mode, With the stretch goal of a motorcycle ride through the mountains.

Updates and play testing to follow.

Skydiving

The skydiving game mode will feature a brief ride in a helicopter, the player will be able to look out across the scenery as the aircraft travels.

The player will then exit the aircraft, using their arms to control the direction of their fall.

During the fall, there will be obstacles, such as birds. The player will have to avoid these hazards and maintain a suitable position in the sky to land back at the air field

The player will be free to open their parachute at any time, and it will open automatically when close to the ground.

Whale Watching

The second game mode will be whale watching. The player will have control of a small vessel

The player will have to be mindful of obstacles, but also of their impact on the environment. Making too much noise with the boat or getting too close to the wildlife will negatively impact the player.

When the boat is stationary, the player will be able to take photos of the wildlife. They will be scored according to a variety of factors, rewarding precision and patience.

Software and tools

A small demo for the skydiving portion of the game already exists in Unity3D, However, I plan to create the full game in Unreal Engine 5. This decision was made to utilise the level of detail optimisation that the engine offers.
